N.J. Gov. Christie Signs Executive Orders Regarding Red Tape

As the first order of business in his administration, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey signed two Executive Orders.  The first one freezes over 50 proposed rules for 90 days, to give them time to be reviewed by a “Red Tape Review Group,” which is the subject of Executive Order No. 3.

The Red Tape Review Group has been charged with reviewing rules, regulations and processes which pose an economic burden on the state’s economy.  They will also review the proposed orders to assess their effect on the economy, public health and safety, and adverse impact on New Jersey’s ability to receive federal funds or comply with any judicial deadlines.
