Cut in Medicare Physician Payments Delayed for Two Months
The Department of Defense (DoD) Appropriations bill that includes provisions extending COBRA benefits into 2010, signed by President Obama on December 19, 2009 (See December 23, 2009 post), also includes a provision delaying a scheduled 21.2% cut in Medicare physician payments (the so-called “doc fix”) for two months to February 28, 2010. The cut was originally set to take effect on January 1, 2010.
